Makoura College and St Matthew's Collegiate should provide the fireworks when matches in Netball Wairarapa's premier one competition continue at the Colombo Road courts in Masterton tomorrow.
Their clash at 1pm should be a cracker with Makoura looking to build on their good win over Pioneer Blue last weekend andSt Matthew's wanting to bounce back from their narrow loss to Wairarapa College on the same day.
The likely closeness of tomorrow's battle is evidenced by the fact that when Makoura and St Matthew's squared off in a Wellington college super league match it was Makoura who had the edge but, in their last premier one encounter, it was St Matthew's who came out on top.
Harcourts are yet to taste defeat this season and are clearly the team to beat for the premier one title but they won't get everything their own way against Carterton New World Legends.
An interesting sidelight here is that Kelly Sargent, who coached Harcourts last season, is now part of the Legends playing roster and she is sure to be of nuisance value whether at the defensive or attacking ends of the court.
Pioneer Blue were caught on the hop by Makoura last weekend and will be wanting to put that loss behind them with a strong performance against Baywide Gladstone, who have enough experience to at least make them work hard for everything they get.
Wairarapa College showed commendable resolve in their victory over arch rivals St Matthew's last weekend and a repeat of that performance should see them beat Carterton New World Lynx.
