Auckland’s SH20 Lambie Drive offramp reopens after rubbish fire

The Lambie Drive off-ramp on Auckland’s State Highway 20 has reopened after a rubbish truck spilled its flaming load on to the road.

Police said the fire was reported about 2.17pm.

In a post on X, NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi said the Lambie Drive off-ramp is now open.

“Expect delays as traffic remains heavy in the area.”

An earlier post said two lanes were now open while the left Northbound lane remained blocked

Auckland Council said while the exact cause of the fire was currently unknown, it was suspected that hazardous materials placed in a residential recycling bin may have been the cause.
