Brightly coloured costumes decorated Riversdale Beach golf course yesterday at the club's biggest competition of the year.
Thirty-six teams of four - 144 people - entered Ambrose Day, many vying for most impressive costume.
Among them were a team of Daves, dressed in pink T-shirts in honour of former club president David Gazley, who became known for wearing the striking colour. Mr Gazley himself came as one of four Cats in the Hat.
Club captain Paul Greenlees said entries had come from around New Zealand from people holidaying at the beachfront village.
President Cindy Giles said the new clubrooms, completed late last year, proved popular with members and guests.
