The Department of Conservation is concerned for the health of the orca calf swimming off the Bay of Plenty coast.
The calf appears to be separated from its family pod.
The orca has been monitored by DOC staff for over a week, and they are becoming increasingly concerned for its
health.
District Operations Manager Jeff Milham said it was unclear where the orca's family was.
They advised boaties and the public to stay away from the young orca, and would continue to monitor it closely.
