Nearly every morning for the past week I have almost been knocked down while out for my morning run. Why do people think they have the right to exit their driveway without a pause? It has made me so nervous that I no longer enjoy taking my grandchildren outin their buggies, as they would be the ones to suffer if I can't stop in time for these thoughtless people.

Five stars for honesty! Leaving Madills Farm, Kohimarama, after playing with my grandchildren, I collected the football and books, but forgot the little pink tinsel-decorated scooter. Two days later we noticed it missing, and presumed it gone forever, but a hopeful trip to the park resulted in joy for a 3-year-old, and relief for Nana. There it was, hung up on the soccer goalposts by a thoughtful person, and respected by the dozens who must have seen and been tempted by it in the meantime.
Three weeks ago a new telephone pole appeared out the front of our house. Two weeks ago Chorus turned up and announced they were turning off our services for a couple of hours. Four hours later they took off. The phone didn't work so I had to call Spark to get Chorus back out the next day to fix it. Today, Vector turned up and told my wife that they were going to turn off the power for a couple of hours, right when she was preparing lunch and dinner and a washing cycle was going. She told them no, give me notice. In both cases no prior notice was given to any disruption of services.
How fantastic to finally have Uber [car service app] in Auckland. I have long held the view we pay far too much for taxis here. Uber provides a much cheaper and more convenient alternative.

Rant
When is the deliberate mutilation of puppies, by removing their tails, going to be made illegal? For many years I thought dobermans, rottweilers and springer spaniels were born without tails. When someone put me right, I was appalled. A dog's tail is an incredibly powerful and vital non-verbal communicator. This barbaric "necessity" must stop. Now.
