Why can't we put the clocks forward an hour and leave them there? This changing every six months is becoming very tiresome considering how nearly every gadget one possesses is dependent on the correct time.

I appreciate those drivers, who, while driving on the main road, give way to cars turning into a main road from a side street.

As a senior citizen I have become exasperated by the use of the phrase "two times". These two words are both awkward sounding and unnecessary when the English language provides the one word, "twice", that conveys the same meaning more concisely and precisely.

Having to catch a bus I had never caught before, I inquired from a bus driver who proved to be unco-operative and did not know his streets. Luckily there was another bus behind it and the driver saw me wandering around, asked where I was going, got me on board and delivered me exactly where I was meant to go. The bus number was 1348, the driver a nice Maori gentleman.

Over recent months the OCR has increased by 1 per cent matched by a corresponding increase in variable mortgage rates. So why has my savings account rate only increased by 0.6 per cent?

Grateful thanks to the lady in the carpark beside Bruce Mason Centre Friday evening who paid the parking fees for those who hadn't come prepared for the meter only taking coins - and wouldn't allow us to pay her back.

Why don't drivers who have used service station petrol pumps drive forward to the provided parking spots before going inside to shop, leaving others queuing for a pump. It is acceptable to leave the car in the hands of an attendant to complete the fill, if the only purpose is to pay for the petrol, but not if wandering around the shop is also on the agenda. If no attendant, fill the car then free the pump.
