Rant This morning I went for a walk in the CBD and along the waterfront, a weekly event. A recurring horror is that just by where the cruise ships dock is a communal rubbish point. Without fail there are overloaded bins and rubbish bags spilling out on the dock.. Bags areoften split with garbage strewn by the seagulls. Is this the look we want to show our arriving visitors? Clean, green New Zealand? I think not. Sara H.
Rave To all police officers: thank you for what you do as all the money in the world wouldn't be enough for me to do your job. My home was burgled and I intervened in a public domestic violence incident and in both cases, police arrived promptly and were very thorough and compassionate. Fiona Allen
Rant Often on the motorway, I see people driving their cars below the speed limit with a big gap between them and the car ahead of them. It is very exasperating, especially during rush hour, as it slows down the traffic. Also, sometimes, when waiting at traffic lights, I see cars leaving a fairly big gap between them and the car ahead of them. This causes the queue to extend to the previous light and often leaves cars stranded at the previous light, which may still be green. Sanjeev Damle
Rave Further to Antonio F. regarding public toilets, I absolutely agree and was inspired to add the following rave. After hunting round for many an hour during my time in Europe for even a sign indicating there just might be a loo nearby, it was an absolute delight as I came through Customs in Auckland that the first big sign indicated toilets nearby. Again, how lovely to be back home. D. Marshall
Rant Please, please, please, there needs to be much more roadside education with respect to using the outside (fast) lane to overtake and then pulling back to the left as soon as possible. I see so many drivers hogging the lane on the far right and overtaking on an inside lane feels so wrong and somewhat dangerous. Sue Norwood
Rave The contractors and council staff deserve a huge accolade for the great job they did cleaning up broken glass, broken garden pots, paper, etc ... left blocking footpaths and driveways by the out-of-control scavengers in the Milford area following the recent inorganic collection. At least one department of the council is working properly. Great job, guys. John Bolland
