How good is Christchurch going to look in a few years? Sure, at the moment it's a bit of a construction site and the constant aftershocks are a bit off-putting but give the poor civil engineers, architects and construction workers a couple of years and the city will look right as rain. In fact it'll be the most modern city in New Zealand, and I dig the thought of that. Can't wait!

To all the people who use mobility scooters: Please remember that the footpath is also for pedestrians. The other day in Orewa, had it not been for my husband yelling out a warning, I would have been bowled by an elderly lady on her scooter going flat-out. She was not going to slow down for anyone. I appreciate that some people need scooters to get around but have some thought for others. We don't all have eyes in the back of our heads.

Well done to the gardeners who planted the large poppy at the reserve on the corner of Te Pai Place and Lincoln Rd in Henderson.

Why do customers at cafes and restaurants hardly ever use their manners any more? Is it really difficult to put your knife and fork together to indicate that you have finished your meal? Is it really difficult to push your chair back in when you leave the table? Is this the result of many families not sitting together at a table to eat any more? Really sad.

A big thank you to the inorganic collectors working in New Windsor who came across a chair with a wasps' nest in it and bravely picked it up and threw it on their truck. No thanks to the person who dumped this outside our house. Not a good move as someone could have been stung. Keep up the awesome work.

To the townies who soil Scenic Drive and roads to west coast beaches with their cartons, bottles and cans: It is not a good look. Contain yourself and take them home or deposit them in the next rubbish basket you come to.
