Since when do NZ Bus staff moonlight as truancy officers? My 15-year-old son tried to catch a bus at 1.15pm in Silverdale. The driver refused to pick him up because he was in his uniform and it was a school day! He was going to a medical appointment andhad signed out of school, they knew where he was and so did I. Needless to say, he missed his appointment and I had to pay a cancellation fee. Perhaps they should just concentrate on what they're paid to do.

A huge thank you to Mathew who was delivering leaflets in the pouring rain at Takapuna Markets on Sunday and found my handbag lying on the ground. He rang me and I went back to meet him at the market. A lovely, honest guy - good looking too!
I find it so frustrating to see companies advertising with an 0800 number followed by their name and not including the numerals afterwards. All too hard.
Congratulations to all involved in the NZ Secondary Schools Cycling Championships held in Auckland over the weekend. As usual the organisers, marshals and support staff did a wonderful job, together with the band of administrators and parents who make these events possible for all the wonderful young competitors. Many thanks to St John Ambulance who were present both days to attend to and comfort any of the cyclists who sustained injuries. We as grandparents of one of the casualties in the racing on Sunday are most grateful that the St John staff were there to take over and provide the necessary care. Thank you St John for the amazing work you do.

To all the drivers who change two lanes at once through a small gap a metre in front of someone and cut someone else off when they appear out of nowhere. What are you thinking? Come on guys, your driving will affect those around you.

To the lady at Royal Oak Pak'nSave who helped me pack my groceries. At 7 months pregnant and with two much loved but slightly unruly children in tow I was very appreciative of the help and friendly smile. Thank you!
