Why do people think that it is acceptable to use local cemeteries as dog toilets. It's lazy and disrespectful.

On Saturday evening, our 8-month-old cat was hit by a car on Evans Rd in Glen Eden. To the neighbour who rescued him from the middle of the road, and immediately drove him to an after-hours vet clinic - thanks immensely for taking the time to assist. Unfortunately the cat died, however it made a difficult time easier by receiving a phone call from the vet, rather than discovering the body on the road. To the driver who hit him - shame on you. While it is not your fault the cat ran in front of you, you could at least have had the decency to check on his welfare.

The library that allows kids to hang around and screech when people are there to study for exams, or to do psychometric tests on the internet for job applications, that resulted in a new patron walking out in disgust for the library having become a playground in recent years. With the proposed unitary plans in Auckland and less outdoor areas within homes there's an urgent need for libraries to return to what they were set up for, a quiet place to read. It's time for a cleanout of the nonsense that has been permitted in our quiet havens.

A big thank you to the kind Kiwi family who stopped to help me after I was twice nearly wiped out by an aggressive driver on Bleakhouse Rd whilst I was cycling home from school yesterday. This was an act of kindness that showed Kiwis at their very best - thank you again. Let's hope the New Zealand police stop this driver from hurting someone (or worse) in future.
