Come on customers, we shop assistants are people too. And you guys are adults so can you please start acting like it and treat us with a little more respect? More often than not, we are really trying to help you. So grow up and leave your bad behaviour and attitudes at home and start treating us like people.

We had a minor burglary in Orewa. We reported it to the police and I was impressed with the respectful reception I received. I did not expect the police to follow it up but the next morning a professional and caring crime scene officer arrived and investigated the burglary and also gave us some security tips. We have since had a follow-up phone call. Well done the Orewa police. Barbara Martin

Rant

I find it hard to feel sorry for schools complaining about funding cuts. Our local school is very wasteful with paper. The teachers photocopy far too much, and they also have an obsession with expensive laminating, most of which ends up in the rubbish, which the school then pays to have removed. Schools should be more accountable for the money they are spending and the refuse they are creating.

Prime TV for screening NZ University Challenge at 11 o'clock on a Saturday morning and not telling anyone.

A big rave for the Elim church guys giving out cold cans of Coke on Friday afternoon last week at Porowini Ave, Whangarei to those of us stuck in the logjam of traffic caused by an accident. It was very welcome.
