In the Road Code and when learning to drive you are advised not to go through an intersection unless it is clear to do so - so to the green car that watched me stop, wait till it was clear and then see me drive forward - thanks for pulling out in front of me so I was stuck unsafely in the intersection while you were in the gap I had waited for safe and sound! Luckily I made it through.

I was recently visiting your beautiful city and lost my purse. It contained a large amount of money and personal items. Norman from the souvenir shop next to Planet Icecream on Princes Wharf found my purse and tried to return it to my cruise ship. But we had sailed. Norman then organised for a family member who was visiting from Australia to return the purse and its contents to me. I can't thank him enough. This has left me with a very favourable impression of Auckland and New Zealanders. I'll be back!

Took a trip from the country to the movies in Newmarket. Parked at The Warehouse carpark and prepaid 2 hours' worth. Movie went for longer than expected and 10 minutes after parking had expired I had a $65 fine.

Boat racing at Orakei Basin, which sparked a rant about leftover litter in yesterday's Herald, was not a dragon boat event, says Chris Stone, chairman of the Auckland Dragon Boat Association. Dragon boat racing has not taken place there for several years, he says.
