Tony Price claimed fastest time honours over the 9km course when the Masterton Harrier Club held their annual club cross-country championships at Whangaehu last Saturday.
Competing in the men's 50 years grade, Price clocked 40m 40secs while the quickest time in the open men's section went to Michael Macklin with 41.11.
Price has been a wonderful performer in his age group this season, having also won the Wellington centre and North Island cross-country titles before his latest success.
Thirteen grades were raced at the Masterton championships.
Brenda Farley won the walking event. She covered the 3km course in 21.24 and was pushed all the way by Ben van Gervan, who was 14 seconds behind in second place. His decision to walk rather than run was prompted by injury concerns.
The senior women's title was won by Vicki Paine who completed the 6km in 30.33 and the closest finish of the day came in the boys under-14 grade which the Heard brothers, Liam and Matthew, finished just one second apart, Liam securing the win.
