"Prisoners required to appear in court departed the site this morning without incident," Parr said.
"Some appearances by AVL have been rescheduled. Three prisoners who were due to be seen by the New Zealand Parole Board will also have their hearings rescheduled.
"Staff delivered lunch to prisoners and spoke with them individually about the outage."
Contracted maintenance providers remained on site working to fix the problem, Parr said.
According to the Department of Corrections website, the facility was opened in 2011 to act as the main reception prison for newly remanded male prisoners in the Auckland region.
