NZ Idol runner-up Nik Carlson was yesterday fined $80 fine for flouting his home town Masterton's liquor ban.
Carlson, 27, was found guilty at Masterton District Court in his absence of standing in the main street with a drink in hand.
The court was told police spotted Carlson holding a
bottle of Bourbon and Coke as he stood on the street outside the Stellar bar and restaurant.
The bar had just closed and Carlson, who explained to police that he had just been handed the drink, was being mobbed by a group of young fans.
