A North Shore couple will appear in court tomorrow after police found $800,000 worth of methamphetamine and an $80,000 Louis Vuitton handbag.
Waitemata police detectives executed a search warrant on an Austin Rd home in Greenhithe just after 7am today.
The search warrant followed several weeks of investigation into thealleged sale and supply of meth.
Detective Sergeant Callum McNeill said 800.6 grams of methamphetamine were found at the property, including 20 bags that had been packaged and prepared for sale as ounces of the class A drug.
Each bag of meth, which were no bigger than the palm of a hand, had an approximate street value of $28,000.
"These 20 bags of meth alone are worth more than half a million dollars.
"It's also 20 bags of utter misery and by that I mean the flow-on effects that the sale of this drug would have had on the users, their families, friends and the rest of the community" Mr McNeill said.
"This may look like a bag of salt, but this small bag causes so much harm. Not only to meth addicts and their friends and family, but to the rest of the community. It's the ripple effect it causes, the burglaries, the car theft, aggravated robbery, more often than not they come back to this awful drug."
Police also seized an $80,000 Louis Vuitton handbag - complete with receipt - from the address, thought to have been bought with the proceeds of crime.
"We don't believe the alleged offenders here are actual users of the drug, this is purely a financial transaction" Mr McNeill said.
A 32-year-old woman and 34-year-old man will appear tomorrow morning in the North Shore District Court on drug supply charges.
