Police are still appealing for information about a sex attack on a woman in Rotorua's Kuirau Park.
The woman, in her 40s, was grabbed and assaulted by two men in the park between 2.30am and 3.30am last Thursday.
Detective Senior Sergeant Zane Smith said police had received information from membersof the public about the incident but said officers still want to hear from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious that night.
The woman was walking home after an evening out with friends when she was grabbed by two men and assaulted. The offenders have been described as Maori and aged in their 20s.
After the attack the woman sought help from members of the public who called police.
Mr Smith said police still needed to speak to anyone who was in or near Kuirau Park between 2am and 3am on Thursday, especially if they saw or heard anything suspicious.
Mr Smith said attacks of this nature were "thankfully incredibly rare".
"It is important when they do occur that the whole community pulls together with the police to identify the offenders as quickly as possible," he said. "The police will continue to carry out regular patrols of the CBD and Kuirau Park. We are also working with Rotorua District Council to use environmental design principles to improve safety for all of our residents and visitors."
