Police search addresses after reported fatal stabbing overnight in Riccarton, Christchurch

Police are speaking to a 58-year-old man after a man died late last night in a reported stabbing on Riccarton Rd, Christchurch.

Police executed a number of search warrants at Christchurch addresses and found a vehicle believed to be "connected to the homicide".

Police Detective Inspector Mike Ford said police were currently speaking to a 58-year-old man in relation to the investigation.

"It is understood he was known to the victim."

Police were first called to the property about 10.50pm following a report a man had been stabbed. When they arrived the man was found dead, Ford said.

A scene guard was in place overnight and cordons remained in place earlier today while a scene examination was carried out.
