Police investigating a sudden death in the Christchurch suburb of Linwood say a scene guard will remain at the property overnight.

Police said they were called to England St around 2.50pm, and are working to determine what happened.

"A scene guard will remain in place overnight, and a post-mortem is due to be undertaken tomorrow."
