Police release footage of New Plymouth dairy robbery attempt in hunt for masked knifeman

Police have released footage of a dramatic robbery attempt at a New Plymouth dairy in a bid to find a masked knifeman.

They put out a public plea to help identify the man in the two videos shared to social media.

The man is seen walking into the store on Ngamotu Rd, wearing a plain black hoodie, black pants, a grey face mask and sunglasses.

At his side, he carries a large knife.

In a second video, he brandishes the weapon at one of the shopkeepers.

A police spokesperson said nobody was injured, but the workers were “understandably shaken”.
