Police name woman killed in Taumarunui crash

Police tonight named a Taumarunui woman who died after a van and a truck and trailer collided near the town early today.

She was Karlene Smith, 35, who was driving the van when the collision happened at the intersection of State Highway 4 and SH41 about 1am.

A 43-year-old male passenger in the van was taken to Waikato Hospital with serious injuries. His condition is believed to be stable.

Police said the driver of the truck was not injured.
