Police have named one of two men killed on the roads so far this Easter holiday.
Rangiora man Alistair Charles Symes, 46, was killed when his motorcycle careered off State Highway 1 near Seddon yesterday after he failed to negotiate a moderate bend.
He had been riding with two other motorcyclists.
A pedestrian was struck and killed after being hit by two cars on a Christchurch street on Thursday.
The 47-year-old man was hit by a car and the vehicle following it as he crossed the Fitzgerald Ave-Hereford St intersection in the city about 8.40pm, police said.
The man, who has not been named, died at the scene. His death was the first of the Easter holiday period.
