Police name Masterton crash victim

A woman who died in a fatal crash near Masterton last night has been named by police.

Masterton woman Aimee Maree Wilson, 23, died instantly when the driver of the car she was travelling lost control and hit a power pole near the intersection of State Highway 2 and Mikimiki Road at 11.45pm yesterday.

A 20-year-old male passenger and a 21-year-old female passenger were taken to hospital in a critical condition, a police statement said.

The car's 21-year-old male driver escaped without injury, it said.

Police are investigating whether alcohol was a factor in the incident and say it is still to be decided whether charges will be laid.
