The British tourist who died in the Cardrona Valley yesterday has been named by police as Philip Ross Bergman.
The 26-year-old Briton died near the Tuohy Saddle while on a mountain biking trip.
He was from Herefordshire in England and had recently been living in Dunedin since coming to New Zealand during the Rugby World Cup in September.
Mr Bergman went mountain biking as part of a group at about 2pm yesterday when he had a minor fall, and when he stood up, immediately collapsed again, said police.

Advertise with NZME.Emergency services were called while his companions and staff from a mountain biking company, who were trained in first aid, tried to resuscitate him. He was declared dead at the scene.
Mr Bergman was transported by helicopter to Queenstown and has since been transferred to Dunedin for a post mortem examination.
The matter is not being treated as suspicious.
His family in Australia and the UK are devastated by Mr Bergman's death, said police.
