Police investigate fatal crash near Palmerston North

Police are investigating a fatal road crash near Palmerston North.

The crash, which occurred on State Highway 3 between Oroua Rd and Hansens line at about 4.30pm yesterday, involved a car and a truck and trailer unit.

A 57-year-old Wanganui man, who was the occupant of the car, died at the scene.

Police said the driver of the truck was shaken but uninjured.

Further details would be available once the Wanganui man's next of kin had been advised.

The road was last night closed for a crash scene examination.
