Television presenter and former league star Matthew Ridge was arrested on Wednesday night and charged with driving while disqualified.
Ridge, star of television shows such as The Chair, The Mating Game and A Game of Two Halves, was pulled over by police in Onehunga shortly before midnight. Also in
the car was model Nicky Watson, wife of Warriors owner Eric Watson.
Ridge was taken to the Auckland Central police station, where he was charged with driving while disqualified and given bail. He will appear in the Auckland District Court on Wednesday.
Ridge was disqualified from driving after being caught doing more than 150km/h on the Northern Motorway in August last year.
Asked last night about his arrest, Ridge said: "It is a small story ... I go to court on Wednesday."
Asked about Mrs Watson's presence in the car he said: "No comment."
Mrs Watson had her own driving problems in February, when her BMW four-wheel-drive and a Nissan Sunny collided in central Auckland.
The Fayreform lingerie model left in a taxi when a Herald photographer arrived.
Ridge was a member of the Warriors' board until his sudden departure earlier this year.
He and Eric Watson were listed by the Companies Office as co-directors of the former Finz Restaurant and Oyster Bar at the Viaduct.
Ridge was formerly married to Sally Ridge, who is now seeing former New Zealand cricketer Adam Parore.
