Police hunt for men who drove recklessly in police chase

Three men in a stolen car drove on the wrong side of the road, went through red lights and refused to stop for pursuing police in west Auckland this evening.

Officers first spotted the stolen car on Palomino Drive in Henderson about 6.30pm and commenced a pursuit, Senior Sergeant Mike Flatt said.

They followed the vehicle for five to 10 minutes before the pursuit was abandoned due to the fleeing vehicle's erratic driving.

It was last seen at the intersection of Great North Rd and Sabulite Rd.

Officers were tonight on the lookout for the vehicle and its three male occupants.

Anyone who spots the vehicle, a 2003 Mazda Familia station wagon registration FBC465, was asked to call 111 or to contact Henderson police on (09) 839 0600.
