Police find body believed to be Stephen Lowe

Police believe they have found the body of missing Dunedin man Stephen Lowe.

Searchers recovered a body from the Catlins Conservation Park, near McLean Falls, around 3.30pm.

Senior Sergeant Cynthia Fairley said while formal identification is yet to take place "police believe it is Mr Lowe".

His family has been informed. Police have thanked everyone who helped search for Lowe over the past fortnight.
