Police and forensic units are at a home in the Auckland suburb of Remuera after a person died.
Officers on the scene at the house refused to provide further details but confirmed someone had died.
A statement from police said they are treating the death as unexplained.
More officers arrived at the property close to 3.30pm on Easter Monday and began knocking on doors of surrounding homes.

One neighbour told the Herald that four police cars arrived at 9.30am and that the presence was very unusual for the area.
Another resident said the first cars arrived around 8am - she lived two doors down and heard nothing in the night that seemed unusual but saw them when she walked her dogs.
She said the community is friendly and close, most people stay for a long time.
She has been in the area for nine years but doesn't know the residents of the house
