PM: Forum will decide

Prime Minister Helen Clark intends to go to the Pacific Islands Forum in October, but whether Fiji's military commander Frank Bainimarama does is a matter for the forum to decide.

Last week, the coup leader said he would attend this year's forum meeting in Tonga specifically for a face-to-face meeting with Helen Clark. Commodore Bainimarama plans to raise the issue of sanctions with the Prime Minister and to say she should stop bullying Fiji.

Helen Clark says the issue of who represents Fiji at the forum will need to be worked through directly with forum members and they will decide.
