Southern Motorway blocked a second time after crash

Auckland’s Southern Motorway has been blocked for a second time in just six hours after a crash.

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi said a lane near Mt Wellington is partially blocked after the crash.

The crash was reported at 11.40am.

Earlier, a person was left with serious injuries after a car crashed and landed on its roof on the motorway.

The crash blocked two southbound lanes near Ellerslie at 6.30am. The lanes were reopened at 8am.

A police spokesperson said the car hit a barrier going southbound at Tecoma St.

A witness said the car was left lying on its roof while emergency services rushed to the scene.

The spokesperson said one person was in a serious condition and had been taken to Auckland Hospital.

Two lanes of the motorway were blocked.
