Person critical after Christchurch crash

One person has been rushed to hospital with critical injuries after a car crashed into a pole in Christchurch this morning.

The single occupant of the car was initially trapped and but was freed by emergency services and taken to Christchurch hospital.

The crash happened on Marshland Rd in Ouruhia. The road remains closed between Main North Rd and Prestons Rd.

A police spokeswoman said the Serious Crash Unit would be investigating.
