Two young men were hurt in a high-speed collision in Glen Innes last night which left their car wrapped around a tree.
Police believe the car was travelling at more than 100km/h along Riverside Ave when it crashed sideways into the tree at 6.25pm.
It took firefighters 40 minutes to cut the passenger from the car as his legs were trapped around the trunk. He suffered only a broken finger. The driver suffered a broken wrist and severely broken leg.
The men are thought to be in their early 20s.
Police believe the car was overtaking another when it lost control and hit the tree on its side of the road.
Investigators believe the blue car it was overtaking contributed to the accident and they are looking for it.
Both cars were heading towards Glen Innes.
