A driver is in hospital with serious injuries after crashing into a parked truck in South Auckland this morning.
Emergency services were called to the crash in Great South Rd, Papatoetoe, at 5.29am, between Carlie St and Allenby Rd.
The road was clsoed in that area but has now been reopened and traffic is moving freely.
A Fire and Emergency spokesman said a car had crashed into a parked truck.
One person in the car had to be "extricated" using rescue equipment.
Police and ambulance crews also attended.
A police spokeswoman said a sole male occupant of the vehicle had been taken to Middlemore Hospital with serious injuries.
The road is closed in both directions in that area and diversions are in place.
The spokeswoman said it was expected to be reopened before 9am.
The Serious Crash Unit is investigating the accident.
The NZ Transport Agency advises motorists to avoid the area.
