One person in life-threatening condition after South Waikato crash

One person is in a life-threatening condition following a road smash in South Waikato.

Emergency services were called to the collision between a vehicle and concrete truck on Taupo St, Putaruru at 2.35pm.

Police said two people were trapped in the vehicle, and emergency services were still at the crash site.

An ambulance spokesman said one patient was in a life-threatening situation, and police confirmed they had been taken to Waikato Hospital.

The road was closed and diversions are in place, police said.

Members of the serious crash unit were also in attendance.
