One person dies after two-vehicle crash near Matamata, road now reopened

Police are investigating the cause of the crash on Puketutu Rd, which left one person dead.

One person has died following a two-vehicle crash in the Waikato town of Matamata.

Police said emergency services were called to the scene on Puketutu Rd at about 12.15pm today.

Shortly after 5pm today, they confirmed one person had died.

“The road was closed while the Serious Crash Unit conducted a scene examination and it has now been reopened,” police said.

“Inquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.”
