A person has been killed in a car accident in the Waikato tonight.
Emergency crews were called to the accident on State Highway 1 in Piarere shortly before 8.30pm.
The vehicle involved has lost control and rolled near Tirau Road, before coming to rest upside down in a drain, police said.
One person died at the scene, while a second person remains trapped inside.
Members of the Fire Service are currently working to free them.
Meanwhile, police, ambulance and fire services in West Auckland are also attending to a car crash which happened at around 8.15pm.
The accident occurred on Huia Road, Waitakere, when a car lost control and left the road.
One person has suffered critical injuries and is still trapped in their vehicle. The Westpac Rescue Helicopter has been called out to the scene, while the Fire Service is also working to free the sole occupant.
Motorists around both accident sites are being warned to drive carefully or avoid the area completely.
