One dead, one injured after Auckland house collapses

One man is dead and another is seriously injured after a house collapsed in the Auckland suburb of Hillsborough about 10 am today.

Inspector Peter Roozendaal, from Northern Police Communications, said the dead man was trapped beneath the house which collapsed as it was being moved off a section at 344 Hillsborough Rd.

The dead man is thought to be the son of a builder working on the site.

The injured person was taken to Auckland Hospital.

Inspector Roozendaal said Occupational Safety and Health Service were on the scene investigating.

Traffic is being diverted down Whitmore Rd and Quona Ave.
