One dead after crash on Fairlie-Tekapo Rd, South Canterbury

One person is dead after a truck and a car crashed on Fairlie-Tekapo Rd, South Canterbury.

The vehicles crashed 2km south of Lake Tekapo shortly after 7am.

Police said the dead person was the driver of the car. The truck driver was seriously injured and flown to hospital.

Traffic management is in place but the road is open. Motorists were warned to expect delays.

The Serious Crash Unit had been advised.
