Stories making headlines around the regions today include a near miss for a Tauranga family after a truck crashed into their home and brazen burglars annoy a bar owner.

Rachael Parkes was with her mother and two little girls when a truck from a nearby work site rolled down a hill and crashed through her bathroom and garage.

Burglars who broke into a Carterton bar and restaurant in an early-morning raid managed to steal just three open bottles of booze and a box of tickets.

Two boats have been seized along with 600kg of stolen shellfish after police were alerted to a raid on a Bay of Islands oyster farm.

With all the alcohol he'd drunk that day, driver Matthew Dylan Brewer was surprised the police breath test was so low.
