Birkenhead crash: One person injured in two-vehicle collision

Traffic management is in place as emergency services respond to a two-vehicle crash in Birkenhead.

Officers were notified of a collision between two vehicles at the intersection of Verran Rd, Verbena Rd, and Waiapa St about 7.30pm.

Police believed one person was in a serious to moderate condition.

Hato Hone St John has been approached for comment.

Traffic management is currently in place, with reports on community pages suggesting the surrounding areas were becoming congested.

Earlier this evening, Auckland Transport detoured routes 94, 97B and 97R due to the crash.

Buses are not stopping at Balmain Rd, Porritt Ave, Roseberry Ave, Kauri Rd, and New World Birkenhead.
