Red Badge Group managing director Gary Wilton confirmed the starring guard was part of its security company.
"It was fantastic and the guard was very good and very lucky," he said.
Wilton declined to name the guard involved.
"It could have been anyone of our guards – so we don't really want to single out this guard this time," he said.
"Our staff love concerts, loved ACL and this was just a very nice touch from a superstar performer to a humble member of our team, who incidentally wasn't even born when Grace was originally performing that song."
Jones is no stranger to a good old fashioned piggyback. Video has surfaced of her pulling the same trick in Melbourne on February 26.
Jones, 69, is well known as a gender-bending icon and has often played with androgyny in her 10-album career.
