New Zealand has reviewed and reissued its advice to people to avoid travel to Saudi Arabia after a deadly bomb blast yesterday.
The explosion gutted a residential compound in Saudi Arabia's capital, Riyadh. At least 17 people, including five children, were killed.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (Mfat) reiterated today
that New Zealanders were advised to defer all non-essential travel to Saudi Arabia.
"New Zealanders are reminded to exercise caution due to the continuing uncertain security environment," a ministry statement said.
"There is a continuing risk of being caught inadvertently in terrorist incidents... The United States and United Kingdom governments warn of further attacks aimed at Western interests and of credible threats to civil aviation in Saudi Arabia."
Mfat said all the New Zealanders registered with its embassy in Riyadh, about 450, had been accounted for.
New Zealanders living in Saudi Arabia were advised to make contingency arrangements to leave if they had concerns for their safety.
