Nori recalled in sushi sachet risk

A brand of Japanese yaki sushi nori, the dried seaweed used to wrap sushi, has been recalled by its manufacturers because its packaging contains a sachet of quicklime. Sazuran Japan Foods is voluntarily recalling Urashima Yaki Sushi Nori, packaged in a square pre-printed 28g pack, from stores in New Zealand and Australia.

The packaging contains a moisture-absorbing sachet containing quicklime. If the sachet is swallowed, it may cause a mild burning sensation, stomach cramps and diarrhoea.
