Two men arrested in relation to an assault in Kaingaroa on Christmas morning have been remanded to reappear in the Rotorua District Court on December 30.
Both men, who face charges of wounding with intent, appeared before two Justices of the Peace yesterday. They were denied bail.
It is alleged the men attacked two other men, aged 28 and 30, at a party in Kaingaroa, southeast of Rotorua.
The victims suffered injuries to the head and body and were sent to Rotorua Hospital.
Following the attack, police seized items, including an axe, from two different places in Kaingaroa. A vehicle is also undergoing forensic examination.
