Act leader Richard Prebble will reveal in the next few days whether he will stand in the Wellington Central electorate at the election.
Mr Prebble yesterday refused to say what the party had decided about the seat, which he lost to Labour MP Marian Hobbs by 1482 votes at the last election.
He said he would make an announcement "shortly".
Mr Prebble said he would like to stand but, although surveys in the electorate showed about 9 per cent list support for Act, the seat appeared to be overwhelmingly centre-left.
"So it's going to be a hard ask for National or Act to actually win it."
