Police are appealing for information after a man was shot in Invercargill.

The man was last night transported to Southland Hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

He was found at an address on Brown Street in Strathern, Invercargill yesterday.

A scene examination is underway and residents should expect a continued police presence in the area.


Police say it was "an isolated incident".

Police cordons were in place overnight.

Police were called to the incident about 7:40pm, police said.

Police urge anyone who may have noticed any suspicious behaviour or vehicles in the area around 8pm yesterday to call 105 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
