A garage worker is accused of cutting off his electronic bracelet and going on the run ahead of his manslaughter trial.
Richard Robert Tranter was charged with the manslaughter of Jack Keith Munro, 23, after a crash on January 2 last year on the corner of Russley Rd and Bentley St in Christchurch.
Tranter, a 27-year-old Linwood garage attendant, was due to stand trial at the High Court in Christchurch starting on July 8.
However, it's alleged that some time in May he cut off his electronically monitored bail bracelet and went into hiding.
His alleged abscondment caused the July trial date to be abandoned.
He was arrested last night and appeared from custody at the High Court in Christchurch this morning.
Justice Gerald Nation remanded him in custody to a bail application hearing next week.
His trial has been rescheduled for February 10 next year.
