Humber St in Oamaru has been reopened after a truck crashed into a rail overbridge shortly before 3pm today and tipped, blocking the road.
Constable Neil Rushton, of Oamaru, said the driver believed his truck would be able to fit under the 3.5m clearance point.
While the truck's cab wentunder the bridge, the canopy did not and the resulting crash stopped the truck suddenly, before it tipped onto its side and came to rest in the northbound lane of Humber St.
