Photographers and stargazers have been treated to a spectacle as a super blue blood moon hung over the night sky on Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
Some had clear views, while others captured the moment through the break in the clouds.
Aroha Wakefield in Rotorua was able to catch the moon unobstructed as it rose over the horizon.
Kassidy James captured a stunning image as the super blue blood moon peeped through the clouds in Te Arakura, Feilding at 3.37am this morning.
Waitara resident Aaron Duckett captured a timelapse as the super blue blood moon moved across the night sky.
Paul Taylor's stunning view from Hawke's Bay caught the eye of many on Facebook.
However, not everyone across the country was pleased with last night's weather with many revealing they could barely see the rare spectacle.
